Field tags?

When I insert a field such as a page number or link to a webpage,
instead of the acutal thing showing up something like this shows up
{ HYPERLINK "link goes here" } or if its a page number it shows
{ PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT }. However, when I go to the print preview it
shows up as it should with the page number or link.
I'm using Word 2007 and Vista. Can anyone help me fix this??
