Fields that can be updated from PWA

Hello everyone,

I have a client that is asking about the fields that can be updated
from PWA. My understanding is that only % Work Complete and Remaining
Hours can be updated (based on Configuration),. Is there ANY way to
allow other fields (Begin Date, end date) to be updated through PWA?

In addition, why do we restrict users to updating % Work Complete and
not % Complete on a task?

Any thoughts are appreciated.

In stead of using % Work Complete, you can also have the user enter actual
hours. With this, there is no need to enter the start and end date becasue
when they enter their first actual hour that become the start date, when the
remaining work is zero, what ever the day is of the last actual hour becomes
the end date.

Besides that, you don't want people changing these dates in the actual
fields, you want MS project to drive these dates based on the data the input
for the task.

As far as % Complete and % Work Complete. % Complete is based on the
duration of the task % Work Complete is based on the % that the task is
complete.

The fields that team members can edit in their PWA timesheet depends on your
organization's default method of tracking progress. Refer to the following
FAQ that describes how each method of tracking actually works:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com/Shared Documents/trackingmethods.htm

Regarding your second question, % Complete refers to the percentage of the
Duration consumed to date. % Work Complete refers to the percentage of Work
actually performed by one or more resources assigned to a task. Since
resources do the Work in a project, you track their percentage of
completion. To add additional fields, such as Actual Start or Actual
Finish, to each user's timesheet in PWA, refer to the following FAQ:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com/Shared Documents/changetimesheet.htm

Hope this helps.
