Figure and Table numbering messed up on a Mac

M

Mike

When changes are tracked, my figure and table numbers get
messed up - is there any way to stop this happening ??

It treats the old values like extra figures, so the
numbers jump by two or more.

Thanks,
Mike.

Hi Mike

No, you can't stop it from happening. If you have, say, four figure
captions in your document, and you are tracking changes, and you delete,
say, Figure 2's caption, then Word has "tracked" that deletion. Figure
2's caption is still in the document. So the next caption will appear as
Figure 3, even though you think it's now the second caption in the
document.

You have to accept (or reject) all the changes to display the numbers
sequentially again.

Hope this helps.
