I want to load a task in Project 2007 that will take x amount of hours. Then
I want to know if project will be able to calculate the number of resources
required for that task based on those hours. Does anyone kow if Project can
do this? And if so, how?

Thanks for any help,
DJH

In short, the answer is no.

However your question is incomplete because you haven't stated over what
period it is acceptable to complete those x hours of work.

Hi,

Yes.
Make the task fixed work
Connect a resource
Enter the work
Now vhange duration.
It will tell you what units (i.e. how many resoruces) you need foir that
duration/work combinantion.

I'm just testing to see how its done for a coworker. Could be any hours. For
now, lets jsut say 120 hrs forhte duration of the task

I think I'm doing this correct, but it shows how much that resource would be
used. I'm trying to find out how many resources would be needed if I load a
task for 1000 hours and a normal resource works 8 hours, how many would I
need? Will Project figure that for me?

Hi,

Again, you - and Project - need duration to calculate that. If you allow the
duration of that task to be 5 years, you only need one man part time; if you
want it to be done in a day, you need 125 people.

And Project's units reflect just that (in the second case uniyts would be
12500%)
