File Already In Use

I have a user who logs into an Access97 database that resides on a Novell
Server. When she attemps to use the linked tables she gets the File Already
In Use error. Her co-worker uses the same shortcut to the same application
and doesn't get and error. And here is the real rub. When the first user
logs onto the other users machine she can get into the linked tables with no
problem.
What settings, service pack, etc. could be causing the "File Already In Use"
error.

Any help is greatly appreciated - BCP

It sounds as though she might not have the correct permissions on the folder
where the MDB file exists. She probably doesn't have Create so that when she
opens the MDB, Access can create a locking file (LDB) in the same folder.
(She also needs Delete, so that Access can delete the locking file if she's
the last person to shut down the MDB). Since it works when another user has
gone in (and presumably created the LDB), that would seem the most logical
explanation.

The users are entering the application in read only. No locking file (LDB)
is being created. The same user is linking to the same tables from the same
MDB on the same server location from different computers and getting
different results.
