file back-up from corrupted hard drive

My hard drive spins, but won't boot windows. I have a special cord to
extract files from the hard drive to my friends computer. I want to save all
important files before re-installing windows on my comuter.

How can I be sure to save all settings, emails, appointments etc so that
after I re-install Windows and Outlook 2002 I can import these files
successfully?

Where do I find my settings, emails, appointments etc on my hard drive?
(where are Outlook 2002 files/settings stored?)

Thanks a ton!

Your PST file(s) will contain all your data - email, contacts etc.

usually located in:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Thanks BillR,

After re-installing Windows and Outlook, what is the best way to
install/import these PST files?

I really need the data in the PST files, any tips you have are MUCH
appreciated.

The safest way is to open the file via File | Open and copy what you want
over. Importing can cause issues.
Just make sure the PST is not set as read-only or you won't be able to open
it.
