file cannot be opened

Hi all,

I receive the following message when I try to close my Resource pool
project file.

I tried to save it into a database file but still the message appear

As per the Microsoft Knowledge base article about this error I think
this problem started when I used a macro.

I did tried the backup copy and the first time it worked fine but when
I opened it for the 2 time it did the same. Any other ideas? Thank you.

"The file cannot be opened.
. Check that the file name and path are correct.
. Check that the file format is recognized by Project.
Project files saved in a version earlier than Microsoft Project 98
can't
be opened.
If your file is from an earlier version, open it in that version,
click
Save as (File menu), and save in MPX format. Open the MPX file in the
current version of Project. When you use this method, project data is
imported, but formatting is lost. "

OK Matium

We need to discover whether your project is at fault, whether it is Project
at fault, or whether it's your PC. Does the symptom occur with other
projects on this PC? Does it occur with this project on other PCs? Does it
occur with other projects on other PCs?

Hi Mike and Matium,

I would also check what service pack is installed with MS Project. I
vaguely recall this problem and I *think* it was fixed with SP-2 for MS
Project 2003 but haven't been able to find the specific reference to
confirm.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Mike,

Only my rsource pool does it. I have tried it on a different computer
but the same message appear. I have SP2 installed. The symptom only
happens with my resource pool none other.

Hi Matium,

In that case I think your resource pool file is caput :( I would go into
each file and remove the sharing. Then delete the pool file and create a
new one. Then share to each project file again.
