File compatibility with Word on PC

When sending a Word documtne to PC users from my Mac, some cannot open
the attachement, getting a MIME warning. Some can open. Is it a Word
version issue, i.e. an older PC version of Word. Or is it an email
issue - version or type of email software. I do not get any problems
when sending the same file from my PC.

Solutions. Will saving the document as an earlier version of Word work
(and what is recomended) or is there a download that will allow saving
in a Word PC format.

Not a version problem unless they're still using Word 2.0:) - it's probably
a matter of email encoding.

Depending on your email softare you should have a setting for "Windows
Friendly Attachments" - wording will vary. It's also highly recommended that
you first zip a copy of the file to be attached in order to protect it from
the evil henchmen of the Exchange Server setup to which it is being
dispatched. Actually, it's a good practice to either zip or stuff
attachments regardless of whether they're going to Macs or PCs as it also
helps reduce the size of the message.
