File conversion

I have several users who recently had their PCs upgraded. They had numerous
Project 95 files and cannot open them with Project 2003. Someone (before I
got here) decided they didn't need the CDs for Project 95 anymore so the only
installation for it we have is an upgrade, which cannot find a Project
installation to upgrade to 95. Is there a file converter that I can use to
recover the files my users need? Or is there another process I can follow?
Or, do I need to purchase Project 95, install it, and convert that way?

Any suggestions appreciated.

MacLeod,
The only "file converters" I know of are myself and fellow MVP, Mike
Glen. If you can e-mail me the files and they are not corrupt, I will
convert them to be compatible with Project 2003 and send them back. Mike
and I have done many "conversions" for other users although there are
fewer and fewer requests.

Thanks for the reply, but there's a lot of proprietary knowledge contained,
so we'll have to go a different direction. Also, thanks for the offer.

MacLeod,
I understand. Your only option then is to find someone in your
organization that still has Project 95/97 or buy a copy and install it.
I haven't looked in a long time, but you used to be able to buy older
versions of Project at very reasonable prices on eBay. If you do buy it,
make sure it is a full version and not just an upgrade.
