File corruption error

in our company intranet, if a user opens any word
document the application will show the following error:

word encountered file corruption while opening <file
name>. Part of this document may be recoverable. Attempt
Recovery now?

If you choose yes it will hang. I don't know if it is a
virus or not. I really appreciate your help.
