Twice over the weekend I have lost presentation files. Powerpoint 2004

Can anyone help.

I am desperate.

Hi David,

When PowerPoint crashes, are you prompted to send the problem report to
Microsoft? Did you click "Send?" Did PowerPoint immediately restart?

This has happened to me 5 times in the last 48 hours.

The file gets lost even if there is no crash, and it does not show up
in "recent" menu in PPT once you are back in.

I just lost hours of work, and checked in the folder to see it was
there. When i quit PPT and went to email the file -- it was gone. I
have seached everywhere.

Does anybody have a solution to this problem, yet?

It happened to me twice that I clicked on the "Save" button and PPT
crashed. With it, the document I was working on was gone (completely
dissapeared from the hard drive).
In both cases, the documents were not new. I worked on them before and
also saved them several times before. In one case I only opened an
existing document and changed a few letters within a text box. When I
tried to save it, well, PPT crashed and the document was gone. Both
documents were originially created with earlier versions of PPT (under
Windows). Maybe this is a problem?

I called Microsoft Support. They couldn't help me. The only
suggestions they gave me were:
- delete the PPT preference files so the default ones are used again
- convert all included graphics to jpg and re-include them again

I'm not sure, yet, if this will solve the problem...
