File Download Component

I want to allow visitors to my site to download a file from the site.
Although I didn't think this was a big deal, I cannot find anything in the
entire FrontPage help system that describes how one might go about providing
this feature.

Please help.

Import the file into FrontPage and then just create a hyperlink to it.
Depending what the file type is you might need to put it in a zip file.
(to prevent it from opening)

The simplest way is to place the file(s) in a ZIP (compressed) folder and
create a hyperlink to the ZIP file.

This ensures that the file won't open in the browser (eg if it is PDF, it
will open in Adobe Reader by default, or an Image will be displayed in the
browser etc) and that the browser will prompt you to save/download the zip
folder.

What type of file (*.doc, *.pdf or whatever?) are you wanting to provide for
downloading?

Basicially, you would be hyperlinking to the file. I will need to be uploaded
with your site. Once it is just create your hyperlink. In the case of an exe
file, the link would go to filename.exe
