file extension in Front Page 2002 htm or html

When I open Front Page v2002 and load one of my pages, the file extension at
the top of the page reads "xxxx.html.htm" instead of just html. My fie
extension for files for my web folder for my site are "html." I have 5 pages
on my site - Home, About Us, Services MP Downloads and Contact Us. The
hyperlinks check tells me that all these pages link together, yet when I
click the link for example "Home" nothing happens.

My sense is that the file name is causing the link to be broken, ie. it
doesn't recognize the file extension. Does this version of Front Page 2002
default to a htm extension for pages created?

Will it matter if I change all the page file names to a "htm" extension?
Will this help?

Thanks

All versions of FP default to the .htm extension, and can not be changed.

The use of the .html or .htm extensions is based on what is required by your web host for the home
page.
