file format change between Office 2000 and 2003

We have about 10 users runnning Office 2000 + Outlook 2003
(came as part of SBS2003) - and I am upgrading one
computer to Office 2003 so that I can email merge (not
possible with Word 2000 + Outlook 2003).

Are the file formats for Word 2003 and Excel 2003 the same
as 2000 - or is this going to cause problems, with the
newer Excel/Word version always having to "Save As..." in
an older format?
