file format not valid

M

Monica

I am trying to open a simple excel file which I accessed
within the last couple weeks w/out problem. Now when I
try to open the file, Microsoft Excel shows in the
background with an error message "file format is not
valid".
Now what do I do?
Thanks

Hi Monica,

You don't say what version of Excel you're running, but later versions
of Excel are much better than earlier versions of Excel at recovering
corrupt workbooks. If you can find someone with a version of Excel later
than yours, give that a try. If you can't find a later version of Excel,
you're welcome to send the file to me and I'll see if I can recover it for
you.
