I do business with three people who have PCs with Word 98
for Windows. I had to convert files to 6.0/95 for them to
be able to read them. In the X version, that option
doesn't exists. My husband thinks that the Word Document
form should be readable by PC people, and if they can't
it's because they don't have an upgrade with the proper
translator. I used to have to boot up my old Word 98 for
OS 8/9 to convert for them, but I don't want to have to do
that! What do I have to do in order for these people to be
able to reaceive and read my documents?

Save your documents in Rich Text Format (RTF).

First, these versions all share the same file format and so should
be completely interchangeable (as far as opening and saving -
obviously later versons have some features that aren't supported by
earlier versions):

Windows: Word 97, Word 2000, Word 2002 (XP), Word 2003
Mac: Word 98, Word 2001, Word v.X

If your correspondents are using Windows Word 95 (there is no
Windows Word 98), then yes, you have to convert to Word6/95 format.

make sure you've applied these updaters from

MacTopia Downloads
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx

10.1.2, 10.1.4 and 10.1.5. Also, if you can, make sure that your
correspondents update their configuration.
