File History Listing

My Office 2002 PowerPoint, Publisher, and Excel programs will not keep a history file listing under File beyond a PC shut down. My Word app will keep the most recent files listed indefinitely.

I have gone to Tools >options>general tab and check to make sure saving up to 9 files in history is enabled in all these apps.

What can I do to keep a history listing of the most recent opened files for PowerPoint, Excel, and Publisher? I really miss this feature.
