i do not have norton anit virus I use AntiVir Guard for XP and I looked for
something stating plugins but I see nothing? This is a free download off the
net done for me by a tech guy. I really do no want to have to pay him again
to fix this. I have even tried to remove Microsoft Office XP home but then I
get another error message patch package could not be opened verify that it
exists so I can access it or contact application vendor to verify that this
is a valid Windows installer patch package...????? what is this????

Hi, imbearcat. If some version of Symantec/Norton Antivirus was ever
installed on your computer, then it's possible that the Norton Office
Plugin is still registered in Windows, even if you uninstalled Norton.
Search for the OFFICEAV.DLL file on your system (include hidden and
system files/folders) and note the directory path where it is located.
Close all open applications. From Windows, click on Start | Run. In
the Open dialog box, type the command (including quotes):

Regsvr32 -U "C:\<path>\OfficeAV.dll"

Replace <path> with the directory path for your OfficeAV.dll file. Click
on OK. You only have to run this command once (not every time you
restart your computer). You should get the message:
"DllUnregisterServer in C:\<path>\OfficeAV.dll succeeded." Does that work?
