File in use, but by whom?

Michele

When i attempt to use a file that is shared on my network, i get the file in
use box. Only it isn't telling me who it's being edited by. Is there a way
to change this? I'm using Office XP. I used to be able to see this in
Office 2000

Hi Michele,

As mentioned previously, this can happen if Word temp
files (~$*.do*;*.tmp if searching) are left over after
a crash or disconnect or if there is no name in the
Tools=>Options=>Userinfo area of Word.
