File is not available - How do I access?

I am using Microsoft Office 2003 and all of a sudden I cannot access my
files. Message is "the file is not available". I am currently using AVG
Free Antivirus software.

What files can you not access?

I don't know how AVG works.
Does it have a means to temporarily disable virus scanning?
If so, try that.
