file name is invalid

Hello All
I have a user who is trying to save a Presentation to a network drive that
she has no problem accessing. We go to file>>save as>> and put in a file
name law I and the save type is presentation. When she does this she is
getting the message "PowerPoint can't access "The File Name" because the file
name is invalid". We try it again it saves it OK. Make a change and try to
save it and the same message appears. It’s very random it seems. We tried
creating a different folder to save it in and that didn’t work we’ve also
used the note page view and the normal view but both gave us that message
randomly. Any idea what it wrong or why it would be doing that and how to
fix it?

Which version of PowerPoint are you both using? Have you tried saving the
presentation to a local drive, and then copying it to you network drive?

Thanks Michael... she is using PowerPoint 2003 but this is one person working
on the same PowerPoint document and while she is working on and making
changes she is saving it and getting that message. Unfortunately the user is
working on a terminal server with a thin client and has no access to saving
it locally

As a workaround try saving as a 'PowerPoint 97-2000 & 95 Presenatation' to
see what happens. Should save okay, other than the warning that you may lose
some features.

Has she done a detect and repair on her version of PowerPoint? Is her
version of PowerPoint up to date? Might want to have a look here
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923337 Sometimes your AntiVirus can cause a
problem like this.
