file names

In Word 97, the "save as" command brings up the dialog with a highlighted
file name which is the first letter of the document. Even if I erase this
and type in the name I want, the one letter file name is what is saved.
What's the problem?

Hi, bob1742. With Word closed, use Windows Explorer to locate your
winword.exe file. It will probably be in a folder named something like
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office8. In Windows Explorer, right-click
