I'm running Office 2000 on Windows 98 SE. I have a file
in Excel (name "claimfrm") which I've been using for a few
years. It's a form which contains no macros, nothing
special. This weekend when I tried to open the file, the
file would briefly open, then closed both the file and the
application. I recreated the file in Word as a table,
then saved it as "Medical Claim Form". Immediately after
saving the file, without any prompting from me, the file
closed followed immediately by the application. I went
into Explorer and renamed the original Excel file
as "form". This time, it opened and stayed open. I then
saved it as "claim" and the file and application both
closed without any action from me. At no time did I get
any error messages. I tried rebooting, etc, to no avail.
Is there some file naming convention involving the use of
the string "claim" in a file name? If not, any thoughts?
