file normal

Whenever I write to word and then try to save to file, either in my documents
or desktop. I get the message the "file Normal already exists", eventhrough I
named the file differently. When I try reopen the file I recieve the
message" the file(whatever I named)" it is not available". Gateway keeps
telling me to reinstall my operating system and reinstall office XP. I have
done this 3 times from 3 different techs.

I have Norton AntiVirus 2005 Corporate edition. I have ran Live update, I
have to do this manually because Live Update did not load completely. I still
have this problem.

Use Windows Explorer or My Computer to search the hard drive for
a file named OFFICEAV.DLL (be sure to include system and hidden
files/folders in the search options). If you find it, note the
folder where it is located, and use the "regsvr32 /u" method
described in KB329820 to unregister the DLL.

Did you include system and hidden files/folders in the search
options?

I found the file, yhis time I used all caps. It is located in
C:\programfiles\nortonantivirus. I do not know how touse "regsvr32/u"

I'm havind a problem with Norton. Not all of the DLL files loaded correctly.
I am going to try and reload Norton, because the tabs for options is not
there.

Caps or no caps shouldn't matter. Did you read the instructions
for "regsvr32 /u" that are provided in the Knowledge Base article
I cited in my original reply? Reinstalling Norton probably won't
help, because officeav.dll is a .dll remnant from a previous
version of Norton (not your current Symantec Corporate Edition).
