File not available after applying SP-2

Folks,

For some weird reason, today I've decided that I should
download SP-2. I did and the installation went smoothly.

Then I try to open a document in Word and to my horror,
it says, "The file xxx is not available." I try opening
another document using power point - same message. Same
result for Excel.

Outlook appears to be working, but again I cannot open
any attached office document.

I would greatly appreciate any help you can provide.

Thanks.
Regards,
srini

Hi Srini,

Is the result the same in File=>Open in Word as in opening
a file from Windows Explorer?

If you're using Norton Antivirus is it current and
do you get the same result if you turn off the Office AV
plug in?

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the response. Yes, no matter how I open a
document I was getting the message.

I am using Norton Anti Virus and the definitions are
current. I did not turn off the plugin and that is
something I will try.

It appears that whatever is happening is due to Service
Pack 2. After trying to repair and not being successful,
I de-installed Office and re-installed from the CD. It
worked fine. Then I installed SP1 and it was still fine.
But when I installed SP2 the error returned. For now, I
am runing Office without the SP2.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestion you can make.

Thanks.
Best Regards,
srini
