"File not available" Error in Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise Edi

Okay, I'm experiencing a serious error in Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise
Edition. Whenever I try to open a file in the program, it gives me a "File
not available" error, and I don't have Symantech or Norton installed on my
laptop. The operating system I'm currently using is Microsoft Windows Vista
Service Pack 1.

Also, whenever I try to reinstall the software from the disc, it starts
normally, but then I get a 'Setup.EXE has stopped responding' error, and the
program closes. I don't know if I need to uninstall Office 2007 Enterprise
Edition first, or what.

Please help me.

How are you trying to open the files? Are you using the Open dialog box in
the applications or are you double-clicking them outside the application? If
the latter then can you use the Open dialog box to open the files?

Well, I tried both.

And I figured it out. Apparently AVG 8.0 can cause a similar problem as
Norton or Symantech. Uninstalling the software fixed the problem.

Thanks for the update. Yes, both Norton and AVG have an option that scans
Office documents prior to opening and is known to cause conflicts. If you
want to reinstall AVG here's the command you need to disable the scanning of
Office documents. Go to Start/Run and run the following command:

regsvr32 /u "C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Free\avgoff2k.dll"
