For the second time in two weeks I have had problems with my Office 2003/
Outlook. Both times repair has said the SKU111.CAB file was not found. I
have successfully reinstalled from the installation disk but... does anyone
have a clue what this file does and why it is disappearing?

I'm not sure what that cab contains, but when you install Office, you should
be given the option to store the installation files on the hard drive so that
subsequent installation changes won't need the CD to complete. Did you choose
that option?

The original installation was so long ago that I honestly do not recall.
During neither of the recent repairs (done thru the Add & Remove Programs
list) was I given an option about saving the Installation files. After taking
a look at your reply I did confirm that I do have my office set up files on
my PC now, but since I do run Disk Cleanup or a regular basis would normally
delete these files ( since I have the disks).

Thanks for an light you can shed.

If you have the CDs, then the cab file will be there. Use you CDs for the
repair or copy the file from CD to the installation cache on your hard drive
and don't clean those particular files off any more. The location on my PC
for those cab files is C:\Windows\Options\Packages
