File not working

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: intel

Hi, I have just replaced Office 2004 with the new office 2008. Unfortunately in Word I cannot work on an important file. After 30 sec 1 min after opening, the round colored dot appears and I am obliged to do a forced exit. Anyone can help me.

Can you keep the file open long enough to do a Save As? Try the steps
to uncorrupt a doc here:
