File open dialog

Is there a way to see essential file parameters such as size and date of
last change in the file open dialog (in Office X I can only see the name of
the files while I see all the parameters in the corresponding
Windows-dialog-box).

Thanks for any hints,

Marko Marquardt

No. Office v.X uses system dialogs for opening files. Those dialogs
do not provide for that information.

Thanks for the info!

I actually wasn't particularly accurate - in column view, all that's
visible is the names - unless you've saved the file with a Preview
(Save As/Options) in which case the date created, date modified and
size are all available on a per-file basis in the preview pane.

In List view, the Date Modified field appears as well for all files
in the list, but the size isn't available.

Is there a way to change from column view to list view? (I see the
differences of the different views in the finder but when I open a file in
Excel I see only the column view in the appearing dialog).

Now you've got me - I don't remember 10.1.5 or 10.2.x well enough
to recall if the button was on the dialog or not. What's it been - a
month or two?

However, in Panther (OS 10.3), the Open and Save As dialogs have two
buttons that switch between List and Column View.

Ok, at least I found a reason for switching to Panther (I use 10.2.8 and
there is no such button).

Again, thanks a lot.
