File Open display in Excel 2007

The File Open display in Excel 2007 recently changed (without intervention
that I am aware of) to now be a full screen. The File Open in other Office
2007 programs, including Word and Access, have remained at normal, partial
screen size. I cannot find any guidance on how to reset the File Open
display to only be a partial screen.

You can resize the screen by dragging the edges/corners.

If it's really full screen, try double clicking on the title bar to resize it to
a window (or rightclick on the titlebar and choose Restore).
