Dean

Hi,
I have windows XP. Pentium IIII, 3 GHrtz Sony Vaio.
While I'm in "MS word for students" and I have a blank new
document page opened...When I try to click on "Open" under
the FILE tab. The file search option freezes for a couple
of minutes. Any idea what this is? Can it be fixed?
Thank you

Hi Dean,

I would follow the troubleshooting steps in the following article:

Q259413 - WD2000: Things to Try Before You Call Technical Support
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=259413

This is a good general troubleshooting article for all versions of Word. Let me know if this helps:)

Sincerely,
