After looking in all my archived stuff I came across this which is how I set
all my folder views to details which seems to work for the file open stuff
in MS Office also.
In order to set a global file view to be applied to all folders. Do the
following:
1. Open any folder and go to the View pull-down menu.
2. Select what type of view you would like. Ex - List, Details..
3. Go to the Tools pull-down menu.
4. Select Folder Options.
5. Click on the "View" tab.
6. Click Apply to All Folders.
7. Choose Yes to the Folder views message box.
8. Click OK to exit.

| Now don't I look like the fool. I really must stop and fully read the
| question. I think the answer to this is in Control Panel under folder
| Options can't be sure. Sonia showed me a quick way to do this.
Unfortunately
| it like a lot of other things has slipped from my memory.

|| I think Frans means the view that the File Open dialog box defaults to:
|| Details, Thumbnails, Properties, Other Annoying Views ...
||
|| I'd be more useful if I knew the answer to his question, but this is a
| start.
