File Opening

Whenever I open a Word doc file directly from Windows Explorer, I
get a message asking if I want to "revert to the saved *.doc".

This does not happen if I open the Word software first and then get
the doc from the file/open menu.

Any help is appreciated.

Office MVP Beth Melton suggests that this problem might be rectified by
reregistering Word. See
