File opens in Excel but won't display

I have a user running Windows 2000 and Office 2000, when she clicks on the document icon either on her desktop or a directory the file will open but will not display. You can see that it's open becaus you can tab through the cells and that appears in the formula window. But the actual spreadsheet will not display. This does not occur if file --> Open is used

Any ideas?
