I have a file in a sub directory of “My documents†(C Drive) that will not
load into Excel from Explorer. I can load it fine from my USB back up drive
and I can load it fine if I put it in a higher level directory or shorten the
name to 20 characters. I have longer file names in the same directory that
load into other applications. If I look at the total file path it is 222
characters long and shortening it to 218 characters seems to do the trick. I
put it into a higher level directory and lengthen the total file path to
exceed 218 characters it fails again. Is there a restriction in Excel XP
that limits the total file path to 218 characters?
