FIle Path under Tools/Option/File Locations

The current location (<<ipaddress>>/filename) is
incorrect as the ipaddress no longer exists. When attempt
is made to change it, the application "thinks about it"
and comes up "not responding" in the task manager window.
Is there anywhere else this can be changed?

You might try removing it or changing it in the Registry.

In the Registry navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\<ver>.0\Word\Options

Locate the value for the path you are trying to change and either
delete it or modify it.

If you can't find the value for the path you are trying to change then
the location you want to modify and the version of Word you are using
would be helpful.
