File Permission Error

I made my 1st protected survey doc by pulling check boxes and text form boxes
from the "Developer" tab and inserting them into a Word 2007 file that I
built myself. Whether I save it in 2007 or as a 2003 doc, when I attach it to
an email, open the email, open the file, complete the survey, and try to save
it, I get an error message. It says it can't be saved due to a "File
permission error" that looks something like this -
(C:\...\<filename>%Form.doc). The protection I'm using is "Editing
restrictions" - "Filling in forms," which works as it should for entering
checks and text. Just can't resave it unless I choose "save file" when
opening the doc from the email. I don't want to have to ask my email
recipients to save it before filling out the survey. Can anyone help? Thanks.

It is a security measure to ensure that the computer's AV has the
opportunity to scan any dangerous attachments. They MUST save all
attachments before they can edit and save them properly. There are
workarounds, but only at the expense of security.

Thanks Terry. I need to send the survey to several hundred colleges. Do you
know how to modify the security to the max level that will enable respondents
to resave the survey? Or is there a way to set it up so that respondents can
simply click on a return link rather than having to save and reattach?

Unfortunately I don't know how to resolve this. The basic problem is that
the attachment only exists as a temp file (IIRC, usually in the temporary
Internet Folders) until it has been Saved As to a local folder such as
Documents. I'm not sure how this can be done, but I am wondering is an
Outlook expert would be able to design the form as an Outlook questionnaire
to work as you want.

Thanks again Terry. You know a lot more about these things than I do. You
just saved me hours of frustration.
