File Permission Error

P

Pat

I have saved a file in Word 2002 and have opened the file
after saving. While trying to save my updates, I receive a
file permission error message and cannot save the changes.
Then after closing Word and try to reopen the previously
saved file, it no longer exists in my folder. The file now
has a (~) temporary file name assigned to it which tries
to be opened as a different code. I also was getting
messages that another file while I had previously opened
was a read-only file (it is not saved as a read-only).
Does anyone know what is going on?

Hi Pat,

1. Are you saving the documents to a network share?

2. When you open the documents are they opening as Read only?

3. What version of the OS and what Service packs are installed?

4. If you are saving to a server what type of OS is on the server and what service packs are installed?

Thanks!

Sincerely,
