File permission errors

I have exactly the same problem. The standard solutions don't fix it. It
developed quite recently and I wondered whether one of the Windows XP SP1
hotfixes was to blame. Is there a way to remove all the hotfixes at once to
test this? I don't want to have to reinstall XP if I can help it and it's
tedious removing them one at a time.

Have had the same problem wich was fixed with a patch
Q816557_WXP_SP2_x86_SVE.exe
that's gonna come with xpsp2.
Search microsoft.com for the file.

Mike, thanks, but I couldn't find the file on microsoft.com. Any other
suggestions? I installed XP SP2 but am still getting the file save problems.

Your right....can't find it either.
Think we talked to Microsoft about the problem and they sent the file.
Is xp sp2 out yet?
