file recovery in 2007?

Hi,
I have a HD. All files in the Documents folder have been deleted and then
deleted from the recycle bin. Now, we are desperate to recover at least 2 of
the files back. (When we did a straight copy and paste from the Documents
folder to a USB drive to transfer them onto a new PC it seems that some
files, including these two didn't copy. No idea why). I have used some file
recovery software that has found the 2 files and they are 22kb so something
is there but they seem corupted as office 2003 and 2007 can't open them. I
just get a blank page.
