Is there a keyboard shortcut to save a file under a different name or in a different place. "Command S" saves it under exicting name. Is there a shortcut that eplicated clicking on "File" and then clicking "save as"?

Thanks for any ideas on this.

Just add Shift+Control+S to your memory bank.

You could also use F12 if it hadn't been snatched by Exposè - but that
assignment can be disabled in System Prefs if you wish.

As another alternative keep in mind that you can assign/change/remove
[almost] any keyboard shortcuts you wish in Word. See Word Help on how to do
so as well as an almost complete list of default keystroke assignments.

thanks for this reply but I don't completely understand. I don't see how in System Preferences I can disable the assignment of the F12 key. And if I do disable, does that mean F12 in Mac Word will then do a "file save as"? Unfortunately, Shift + Control + S does not do a file save as.

Can you please explicate that a little further? Thanks.

Hi Gregory;

As for F12: Go to System Preferences> Exposé & Spaces - Exposé, in the
Dashboard section open the Hide & Show list & pick a different function key
or select the minus sign (-) to use no keystroke for Dashboard. F12 will
then run the FileSaveAs command in Word.

As for the Shift+Control+S... I may have customized that one myself :-}, but
you can do the same. Go to Tools> Customize Keyboard, select the File
category, then select the command in the right list. Click in the "Press new
keyboard shortcut:" field & type the stroke combo you want to use. Observe
whether it is already assigned & if not click the Assign button, then OK.
