File | Send to... Issue

When attaching a Word 97 document to an Outlook 2002 note via the File | Send
To... | Mail recipient option, the file extension is changed from .doc to
..ans.

Any reason why this is happening? The file being attached is a normal Word
97 document.

It shouldn't. Try reregistering Word by going to Start, Run and typing in:

winword /r

and pressing Enter.
