File sharing lock count exceeded. (Error 3052)

Keith S.

I tried to delete about 40,000 records in a table using an Access97 database.
It resulted in an Error 3052, which is a File sharing lock count exceeded.
I cannot get rid of the error. When I click OK in the message box stating
that I have "Error 3052", the exact message box reappears. I have already
tried to do a CTRL-ALT-DEL to quit Access97. When I reopen Access97, the
exact Error 3052 appears without even opening the Access97 file. I have even
rebooted by PC and the result is the same. I go through CITRIX in order to
open Access97. Any suggestions?

Hello Keith
It sounds like you are on a Novell network. Have your network administrator
increase the number of locks. If s/he monitors activity on the network the
locks error will also be generated on the console.
Alternatively, or in conjunction with, this delete the records in chunks,
say, 500 at a time.
