File Size Grew

Mitch B

I run a macro on a Template every day. One day the file size is under 5 MB.
The next the file size grew to over 30MB. The spreadsheets are nearly the
same as to the number of rows. The number of columns in each of the
spreadsheets is exactly the same and the number of spreadsheets in the
workbook are exactly the same. However, the file size of the workbook went
from 5 to 30 MB. Any one have a clue why?

I suspect your macro did a lot of copying pasting, etc and excel now thinks
it has much more data than it does. Try pressing Ctrl+End and see where the
cursor ends.

Also Excel is poor for recovering data generally, but the above will
certainly help

I figured out the prob. Thanks for your quick response. What happened was
the macro, for some reason, ended up being stored in the Template file. Not
sure how that happened. It is possible that I may have updated the macro and
didn't save it to the Personal.xls file.
Any way, I deleted the template and the macro. Then re-wrote both. This
time I made sure that the macro was saved in the Personal.xls file not the
worksheet.
Violla! The new template was less than 200KB. When I ran the macro the new
file was less than 6MB in stead of 35MB.

Thanks again all.
