File size increase when graphics are added

David

When I insert a picture into a Word document, the file
size gets huge. Pictures are coming as powerpoint object
or powerpoint object saved as jpeg. Usually color, but
B&W too. Powerpoint filesizes are small. They each
increase the Word filesize by sometimes 5MB - too big to
work with. Suggestions? Thanks!

Hi David,

A powerpoint object is not a picture, it's an OLE-object.
That means Word not only stores the powerpoint file
information, but also information about powerpoint, itself.
That's what makes your file size explode.

Best would probably be to export slides as pictures, open
them in a graphics program, compress them, then use
Insert/Picture/From file in Word to bring them into your
document.
