File size increases dramatically

Hello!
I receive a Word document by email, that is ~450K.
It contains logos/tables etc.
I fill in the tables with text (which increases the total number of pages)
and when I save it, it is ~3M.
Any idea what I'm doing to is increasing these files so drastically??
