File suddenly opens slowly

I sent a workbook to a customer a while back. I use Excel for Windows 2002
sp1 and the customer uses Excel for Macintosh 2001 sr1. It wasn't large
(470K) and the
only code was a couple of print range macros. A couple of weeks ago he asked
me modify a few formulas. Now he claims it takes 12 seconds to open the
file and it also saves slowly. I don't have the problem. My file opens
in less than a second. He said the file is on his local hard drive and Excel
is open (with macro protection off) when the tries to open the file. I sent
him a new copy and he has the same problem. I am puzzled. Can anyone shed
some light on why this is happening and how I might be able to fix it?

Thanks

Hi Steve,

It sounds like the file has become corrupted. Open Excel XP. Use File >
Open from the menu. Locate the file, select it once by single clicking
(do not open it yet). Next to the OPEN button in the dialog box is a
very tiny triangle. Click the triangle and choose the option to repair
the damaged workbook.
