I use Publisher 2000 for my website creating. The FTP (file transfer
program) is needed to communicate with the ISP's (Internet Service Provider)
Server (his computer). The FTP connects and communicates with the Server,
and makes copies of your website files onto the Server. To connect you will
need your domain (www.yourdomain.com) the storing folder, and the password
to gain access. Some providers (maybe all) have a FTP on their Server for
users to use.

Could be later versions of Publisher have a FTP built in; others here will
be able to answer that. They refer that there is a command in Publishers to
"Publish to a website" which sounds like a FTP.

The first time through getting your site up an running is a bit challenging
but once getting through it, it all makes sense. (Almost)
