I have been told that you cannot put .mdb and .adp files into Sharepoint. Is
this correct?

That is correct John

I just tried to upload the sample northwind.mdb file and this is the
error message I receive:

Form Validation Error
Please correct the information you provided by following these steps,
then submit the information again:

Actually I was looking if there were any pitfalls for putting these in. I
know that they are blocked in an "out of the box" installation. I have a
request from one of my users to unblock these file types. Is there any
issues that I should be aware of in doing this?

Not that I'm aware...
Report back if you find some issues

Many thanks

You are unlikely to be able to open the .mdb file directly from WSS because
you will not have the equivalent .ldp file available. (Hoping I have the
name right).

This problem has been reported several times in the WSS newsgroup.

We have a test environment. With the project managers permission I was able
to unblock .mdb files, upload an Access database file, make a modification to
this same file (added an entirely new table), and save it back to the
library. I then reopened the file and confirmed that the new table existed.
