File will not Save

P

prestojx

I have a spreadsheet (Mac Excel 2004) that I cannot save. When I try
to save it, the colored wheel spins and Excel does not respond.
Eventually, I have to force quit.
Is there a fix? This is a very important spreadsheet that I use on a
daily basis.

Thanks,
t

Hello,
I assume, that you have problem just with this one XLS spread sheet,
right? All others are OK?
Then this makes me think that the file might be corrupted. Could give
us more detail about that spread sheet. How big it is, which function/
links have you incorporated int there...

So the first thing to try, navigate to cell A1 and press APPLE+SHIFT
+END. This should transport you to the last entry, if this have moved
you to the empty cell as well, carefully copy your data/entries, but
just only the data/entries to the new spread sheet. Be sure you do not
take in addition any other empty cell.

As I'm on PC I can see another possibility when I open file File>open
and pick up the file - the open button can be changed to Open and
repair. I'm not sure this exists on Macs, actually I think it doesn't.
But if you send me that file (if you are allowed or want) I can try it
for you.

And another thought, Can you do save As? You do not save your file
directly on USB thumb, or network drive, do you?
